We'll touch on elements of the model applicable across a range of Extension domains such as strong external partnerships to continuously prioritize needs; innovative use of mobile technology; and an ongoing focus on streamlining instruction to maintain engagement while reducing barriers to access. We encourage and will respond to audience engagement throughout.

Monday, March 8, 2027, at 1 PM (ET)/ 10 AM (PT)
Mollie Toppe, Pi Chapter, West Virginia University, and Barbara Dunn Swanson (IA)
Many Extension professionals spend their days teaching life skills—yet when caregiving enters our own lives, we’re often unprepared for the “3rd shift”: working our jobs, caring for our households, and supporting an aging or ill family member. This webinar blends field-tested caregiving “wish we didn’t know this” lessons with an evidence-based caregiver education program that helps caregivers take better care of themselves while caring for someone else.
Through small group and large group discussion, participants will:
- Identify immediate “caregiving readiness” steps (documents, access, contacts, and basic organization).
- Use a set of guided questions to start family conversations about aging, finances, medical decisions, and end-of-life preferences.
- Describe what Powerful Tools for Caregivers is (six sessions, facilitated format) and how it supports caregiver skills and well-being.

ESP Webinar Proposals
2026 National ESP Call for Webinar Proposals (Fall 2026 - Spring 2027)
Webinar Proposal Submission Deadline: July 1, 2026
The ESP Professional Development Committee invites proposals for dynamic and impactful webinars that will support Extension professionals in their work. We are looking for presenters who can help educators explore emerging issues, strengthen their programming, and expand their programmatic reach.
We welcome a wide range of topics, including innovative program concepts, effective management strategies, community challenges and opportunities, new technologies or tools, and approaches for engaging audiences. These examples are only a starting point. If you have insights, experiences, or ideas that can benefit Extension colleagues, we encourage you to share them.
Presenting an ESP webinar offers meaningful professional benefits. Presenters gain national visibility within the Extension community, strengthen their professional portfolios, and showcase innovative work to colleagues across the country. Presenting also creates opportunities for networking, collaboration, and sharing ideas that can spark new programs and partnerships.
ESP Life Members are also warmly encouraged to submit proposals. Your experience and expertise are highly valued, and we welcome the opportunity to learn from your perspectives.
