The Science of a Successful Presentation
Katie McFarland, Theta Chapter, Idaho
Online teaching and advancing technology can enhance the way we teach, but there is a science to mastering these new tools. Successful multimedia presentations can be achieved by learning and applying the science behind multimedia and student learning. This workshop will walk participants through the theories behind effective learning in a multimedia environment and how we, as educators, can maximize our efforts and effectiveness. As a doctoral student studying Instructional Design and Technology, I will share the tools and tips I have learned in years of courses in a short and sweet “how to” extension educators can use and apply in all their multimedia presentations. We will look at past science and focus on effective multimedia teaching principles. The principles will be presented with real extension examples and how to best apply them within our work.
